The bite has been tough on Lewis & Clark Lake the past couple weeks. More bait in the system than I have seen in a long time as well as a Mayfly hatch. Walleye are starting to move on the break and into some deeper water where much of the bait is located (30'fow) There are still some walleye showing up in the 16'20'fow areas when the wind is blowing or moon conditions are right and the bait is rising. Trolling crank baits to cover these ares is the most effective way with Flicker Shads, Rumble Shads and Salmo Hornets are all producing. The numbers of fish haven't been good the size has been great with most fish coming in over 20"+ Working the river channel edges on either NE or SD side is where a majority of these fish are staging as that is where most of the bait is located. There are plenty of fish on the west end as well but size has been a bit smaller. Rigging or jigging with crawlers or leaches has worked best on the west end as well as pulling bottom bouncers with Randy's Rigs or Slowdeath rigs. These fish are very healthy and I expect there to be some true trophies to be caught this fall!
